Just Government, 仁政

Wishing you all a Happy, Meanningful and Healthy 2008.

2008 (Jan 21,2008 to Jan 21 2009) is Stronger Fire Year with Dryness characteristics. So take great care, it is a year to beware of over-exhaustion and potential sudden occurance of risk event, in particular epidemics.

2007/2008 are election years in key places. France and Russia are done.

We have US presidential election late this year and Taiwan in March 22.

Irrespective of form of government, to get the support of the populace and retain the right and priviledge to rule, any government has to receive blessings from its people as per Men-zi (孟子). 

Men-zi, who advised all rulers to conduct Just Government (“仁政”) , whose idea is still as valid today as it was more than 2000 years ago. He noted that for any one aspire to rule, he/she needs to win the minds and hearts of the people. ( ”得天下有道：得其民，斯得天下矣；得其民有道：得其心，斯得民矣。”).

Therefore Bush (and therefore Republican) has already “lost” his right to rule, that’s inevitable, never mind his remaining term.

To receive blessings from the people, it needs to satisfy just 12 Chinese characters :

“风调雨顺，国泰民安， 安居乐业”, i.e. “Harmoniuos natural environment, Peace and Stability, a Decent Livelihood”.

The American electorate, therefore, is ready for a change.

So if the Democrats were to lose in this year’s presidential election, they have only themselves to be blamed.
